Shadow Has a Collision
Shadow took off at a run, following her buddy. She tried to catch up, but somehow got her feet tangled in the grass and suddenly she was tumbling head over heels through the grass and down a small hill. When she stopped she jumped up and looked around. “No one saw that, right?” Her people were laughing, but that was okay. Shadow took off after her buddy again. She ran up the side of the dam and made a jump so she could see over the tall grass. Suddenly she hit someone else. She and her Buddy had collided in mid jump! They both jumped up and took off at a run. The game of tag was on! Shadow ran after her buddy, then her buddy took off after her. Shadow did a sudden stop and jumped up to peer over the grass again. She felt the impact and fell backwards. She and her buddy had another collision! Shadow and her buddy, Chichi, took off for home, with several side trips along the way. Buppy tried to keep up, but gave up and walked with her adopted daddy and her momma. Once back at the house Shadow wanted to go into the back yard, but the big visiting dogs were there and barking at her. She turned and headed around to the front of the house. By the time everyone was back and settled in for the night, Shadow was ready to head for bed and sleep all night. Instead of that happening, she settled beside her momma and decided this would do for now. Shadow fell asleep and began to dream, maybe of running in the pasture wild and free. |
Alternative Opinion
by Betty Montgomery Well, that was welcome. It’s about three minutes to eight PM as I write this and an old time “gully washer” has just blown through. Well, it’s come through the part of Lone Oak where I live anyway. For all I know it skipped over downtown which is only a few blocks from where I live or maybe missed where the Lone Oak Newsletter Office is entirely. Might be good if it did as one whole side of that building is still kind of bent in a little from getting hit by a car. Yep, a car hit the Newsletter office. Go figure. And we haven’t even been publishing anything controversial. Of course for some NOT being controversial would be reason enough to get PO’d at a newsletter. Maybe this rain will raise the level of Lake Tawakoni a little. The ground was already wet from the rain we got last night so lots of what just fell should head on down to the lake. Do wish I had the land forms built on my place I’d like to have put in already as well as the rain gutters and above ground cisterns. I could have caught myself a bunch of water this afternoon! This is the idea. You catch as much of the water that falls from the sky onto your land as you can. You also arrange things so that what water flows onto you land stays on your land for as long as possible, does as much work for you as you can squeeze out of it and then when you finely let it go on it’s way you make absolutely sure it’s as clean and drinkable as it can possibly be even if you didn’t get it that way. My opinion is that’s the only way to do it in these drought ridden times. |
